Emerging as one of North Queensland’s newest musical exports, The Layman Preachers are rising quickly from a small-town song writing outfit to international recognition for their well-crafted, energetic, and impactful songs.
Heather Armstrong and Corby Green began releasing music under The Layman Preachers banner in 2022 after many years working both independently and together in various original bands within North Queensland’s folk music scene.
From the interweaving sounds of Mandolins, 12 String guitars and folk instruments on their 2023 release, 'Rich Enough' to the powerful and hard-hitting reality of more recent releases such as 'Don't Get Comfortable with This' and ‘Run’, The Layman Preachers write what is on their mind and orchestrate their songs according to the mood. This leads to a level of unpredictability and expectation with every release.
Although their live performances to date (and through 2025), will remain 'acoustic roots' based as a duo or four piece, the 2026 shows will give fans the first taste of their repertoire as an eight-piece ensemble.
